Awkwafina Awkwafina, an American singer and actress began by releasing a humorous rap track dealing with issues related to sexuality and race. Her career expanded to Hollywood after she released a series of raps. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first music experience. She was a trumpet player. After a classical and jazz education She delved into hip-hop when she was an teen. Following a focus on education, she earned a degree in journalism in college and a women's studies major. Not until after graduation did her focus shift to music. Following her viral success via the Internet, her song My Vag was a reaction to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick. It eventually appeared on the debut album Yellow Ranger. It also contained songs that were viral such as body-positive Queef or winking hometown tour New York Bitche$. The latter track was tied to Awkwafina's NYC, a 2015 travel guide. Alongside having published a book as well, she also worked singing. Alongside early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk she appeared in films like Neighbors 2. Storks as well as Bad Rap. Her breakthrough came in the year 2018 when she appeared in a number of notable films like Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. Her EP came out, in Fina We Trust in June of that year.
